Can chatgpt be used to help write my resume?
I have seen the chatgpt is very good at editing and writing parts of my resume. Can I use it for that or is that plagarism? Will it be flagged by IB companies and get me disqualified?

You can use Chatgpt to write anything and no one can tell if you're good at it. Just don't be lazy and write, "Write my resume." without checking and polishing it. It's a tool to make you more efficient and productive so treat it like it's just a tool. The first output it gives you is usually trash, but it serves as a good foundation.
So no plagarism checkers like tutritin or anything else that can make the resume get flagged if I use it to help edit and write my resume? Thanks
what the fuck do you think banks are using turnitin to verify resumes?
If you're good at it there's no way to tell if chatgpt is being used on anything. That's why prompt writing is such a useful skill now. Most people can't write prompts to save their life. If you write good prompts, use some effort, add your voice and words, check, double check, copy & paste without formatting, run it through all the plagiarism checkers and AI checkers that are available, etc. then there is no way to tell if you used Chatgpt at all. Make sure any of your submissions don't sound like an obvious robot and use some common sense, and you'll be fine. A resume is just a page with some facts about yourself anyway. Aside from formatting, grammar, bullshitting too much, and flat-out lying, it's kinda hard to mess it up. It's also a resume, it's not your English paper.
Chatgpt is only as good as the inputs you feed it and your knowledge. You have to know the right questions to ask it and have the knowledge, experience, and domain expertise to review its outputs and ask follow-up questions to get better outputs.
Thanks for the feedback but if I use chatgpt and then if I do what you said and run it thru Ai/ plagarism checkers, won’t it show as having used AI? Won’t firms then be able run their own AI checkers and see chatgpts imprint and that I used chatgpt?
These AI checkers are all bullshit. I taught someone how to use Chatgpt correctly, they used it for an assignment and his professor sent an email to his whole class to stop using Chatgpt because it was obvious. The same professor messaged him that his work was great for the same assignment. Paste everything you do without formatting, there is no secret tag that anyone can use to "catch" you if you're smart about it. They're words. I've heard of some professors hiding words in their assignments to catch students, but it's bullshit to scare kids because that's all they can do about it if you're not lazy.
And again, it's a resume, it isn't your final paper, thesis, or research. Most companies won't care if you use it to help you with your resume as long as your resume isn't a bunch of bullshit or it's obvious that you had it write it for you. Think of it like asking someone to review your resume for you.
Thanks so much! Could you kindly tell me how to use chatgpt correctly for this? Also, what do you mean by “paste everything without formatting?” Thanks so much
When you copy & paste something you have an option to paste it without formatting. Use that when you paste from Chatgpt.
Thanks so much, but why would I need to do this? I wrote my resume without doing paste without formatting (I did Crtl + V which is paste with formatting). Is this ok? Will it get flagged?
Most of the time you don't need to use paste without formatting, I just do it as an extra precaution. It removes all of Chatgpt's formatting and anything you might have missed and pastes it as raw text.
Tell Chatgpt where you're applying and what role you're applying for. Upload a sample resume that's worked so it knows the format. Give it your information (nothing too personal). Ask it to simulate a banker for you to tailor it for keywords that a banker wants to see on resumes, and make every sentence concise. You can even tailor it to the specific bank you're applying to and see what it comes up with. Keep making adjustments using Chatgpt until you think it's perfect.
After you're done post a redacted version here and have people critique it for you and then make some more adjustments. You can even use Chatgpt to simulate an interview for you for practice. You can have it talk like a banker. I had Chatgpt giving me instructions sounding like a 90s NY rapper for fun son.
If you want to go even further, you can feed Chatgpt some old advice threads from WSO and have it tailor your resume to fit the best advice given on WSO.
