Cover letter in email
Should you still include the regular header with name, title, address of the firm, etc. when including the cover letter in the body of the email or does Dear Mr./Ms. suffice?
I'm pretty sure it's the second, but I just want to double check and be sure.
Thanks.
Just the Dear Mr./Ms.
Make sure to proofread it multiple times before you send it.
Also have someone else read it. Often times reading one too many times yourself prevents you from seeing errors that a pair of fresh eyes will pick up!
Dear Mr/Ms. or any standard greeting is completely sufficient. Considering it is an email, I would definitely recommend proofing it as well, since, unfortunately, emails often go out with less care than a Word doc or a letter (or at least that it is how it is perceived). Lastly, don't over-think the cover letter/cover email - people often get confused as to what to say, how much to say, what's important vs. not, etc - focus on delivering a concise, clear message of what you want, why you, why them, thanks and contact info. Good luck.
