Desperately seeking resume critique - Corporate Finance/Business Analyst

I graduated college in May 2013 and was lucky enough to grab a job as a Mortgage Analyst at a Credit Union. I am applying for entry level Business Analyst jobs at any company I can find on Indeed, Craigslist, or linkedin. I am shooting for larger corporations as I have experience working in large company HQ's. I would really appreciate if you could tell me what you like best about my resume and what can I improve on. Also, if any bullets can be improved or re-written better.

Thank you so much in advance for your time!

I really like the fact that you have a separate section for leadership experience -- but you have included it a way that makes it attractive. It's not forced or out of place. Kudos on going a little "outside the box" in this thought process.

That being said, there are a few other things -- and i'll give you the most important LAST --

  • You aren't restrained to 1 page.
  • Take some liberties with formatting, maybe add a splash of color to your company names or titles, etc.
  • maybe change the text color very slightly for key words to make them jump off the page
  • be creative..... this is pretty typical of what you see in resumes these days -- if you're adventurous, take a chance and be a little different. My guess is if you take a risk an nail it, you'll get better responses!

MOST IMPORTANT POINT -- You have 4 positions that are quite different. If I'm a manager reviewing your resume, i want to be able to get a feel for you at a glance, and decide whether you deserve more attention as a candidate. I have to take a little time to figure you out. I would suggest making it easier for the hiring manager or screener.

Add a Career Summary section at the top --- give an overview of who you are, along with your various capabilities and experiences. Add a small 2 or 3 column section with bulleted competencies --

Managers know you're interested in their job, because you applied, but by doing this, they can see your versatility immediately, and can see all of the other complimentary characteristics that differentiate you from other candidates! I am sure there are some capabilities you have that others don't due to your database and political experiences.... in addition to your finance experience, call those out. Those will give you a competitive edge!
