Do I need to mention my Visa status
I am sorry if this questions has been asked already, but is it good (bad) idea to mention my Visa status on my resume? esp if you are mentioning part of the school work in a different country? How do you guys handle this? I am not sure whether HR will do a preliminary round interview for personal details, Visa etc? In this case, I guess I don't have to mention but I am not sure about the process. Any suggestions?
I wouldn't put that on your resume. But if you apply to a job or interact with HR they will ask for Visa status, citizenship etc.. At least for a semi large company.
Thank you.
Like it was mentioned above, don't put it on your resume. People are just looking for a reason to eliminate you (in this case it would be that they would have to sponsor your with H1B).
On the other hand, this may not be relevant to you, but if you are a Resident Alien, I think you should mention it on your resume. Its a GREAT conversation starter during interviews. I can speak from personal experience - every interviewer will be curious about where you're from.
@pphi Thanks for the suggestion. Yes I am a permanent resident now. I will PM you for some more questions on this topic.
I think you should add this on your Resume too. This will expand it more which will lead to as "pphi" said, "every interviewer will be curious about where you're from." :)
