Hyperlinks in .doc or .pdf CV?
Dear Wallstreetoasis users,
I am about to apply to McKinsey and other management consultancy companies / investment banks and wanted to include hyperlinks in my CV (which is a .doc or .pdf file).
Some of the abbreviations or descriptions or awards/programs would benefit from recruiters being able to click and read a bit more about what I am bringing to the table.
The cover letter itself has no hyperlinks - only the CV (and only where relevent/necessary)
What do you think?
Thank you and best of luck to all other candidates!
hyperlinks are only acceptable if they link to a video titled "Failure is not an option" starring you lifting weights, playing tennis, doing karate, and ballroom dancing. Otherwise hyperlinks can rub HR the wrong way.
haha I saw that video! What a classic. I just thought it would help HR get some more information on awards etc. Not even if it is not underlined and in blue? Why is it not acceptable? Wouldn't it show more honesty/transparency on the part of the applicant? Thank you!
I doubt they will review any resumes on screen. They will surely print out the resume before looking it over.
