Paying for IAS/IES/CIEE Internships Abroad

There's some programs like IAS/IES/CIEE where you basically pay for an internship. I'm assuming a good portion of that goes towards housing, food, networking events, training and some of the other perks that they offer but essentially, you're paying them at least a bit to find you the company to intern at. Some of them even offer college-credits within an internship. I don't have to really worry about paying for these usually $5-7k programs since my university does reimburse up to one summer experience. Do foreign internships through such 3rd party agencies/programs look good on the resume? Have you seen people make it in with such internships on the resume and did it help them stand out in interviews?
