Incoming Freshman - What Should I Put on LinkedIn to Land a Search Fund Internship?
Hi everyone,
I’m an incoming freshman at the University of Texas @ Dallas, and I’m hoping to eventually break into Private Equity. I’ve been doing some research and realized that getting involved with a Search Fund early on could be a great way to build relevant experience.
I understand that I haven’t shared my current experience in this post. The goal here isn’t necessarily to get personalized feedback right now, but to understand what recruiters and operators at search funds look in candidates. I want to optimize my LinkedIn and overall profile ASAP so I can start applying for internships soon. I know how early you need to act to break into competitive finance roles, and I want to make sure I’m not wasting time.
Specifically:
- What skills or keywords tend to catch the eye of search fund operators?
- Are there any certifications, activities, or experiences that show initiative and potential fit?
- How can someone with little to no finance background demonstrate real interest and readiness?
Thanks in advance!
To optimize your LinkedIn profile and position yourself for a Search Fund internship as an incoming freshman, here’s what you should focus on:
1. Skills and Keywords to Highlight
2. Certifications and Activities
3. Demonstrating Interest and Readiness
4. Additional Tips
By focusing on these areas, you’ll create a LinkedIn profile that signals initiative, professionalism, and a genuine interest in search funds and private equity. Good luck!
