Internship Resume Review

Hey Everyone

This is my first real resume, and I am hoping to get some type of internship for the summer 2011. I'd appreciate it if anyone could offer me any type of advice to improve it. I know due to my lack of work experience and relative extracirriculars that my chances of a BB internship are virtually none. However, I'd like to make the most of what I have for my resume to market to regional boutiques or for corporate finance roles so any type of advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Taking a quick look:

  1. Take out the "/4.0" and "Honors List" and watch the spacing in your dates "XXX-XXX" vs "XXX - XXX" vs "XXX- XXX"

  2. Your bullet points need some work - while you don't have the most relevant experience, you still need to craft your bullet points to be as relevant as possible. In other words, any analysis, documentation drafting, pitch work and research needs to be highlighted along with results

  3. For the construction experience, you really need to sell your leadership more - you say you supervised, but just gloss over it - that should be top bullet point with some results and an example or something to sell it more. Additionally, talk more about creating and drafting the proposals, what went into it, any results, research, etc. If the advertisement helped business, involved powerpoint work and so forth, then expand on it.

  4. Why are you not part of a finance, IB, etc type of club?

  5. Expand a bit more on your athletics and take out "Currently" from the bullet point - just lead off with "Ranked"

Thanks. That is all great advice and I will work on making those changes. How would you suggest expanding on the athletics section? Also my school does not have any finance or IB club, although one is in the works it hasn't really taken off yet. Thanks again for the advice.
