Looking for feedback on a cover letter

I'm applying to a few smaller management consulting firms. I go to a small non-target school and have a 3.0+ as well as decent connections at some small firms. I would appreciate any feedback or advice anyone can offer on preparing for case interviews, and constructive criticism on this cover letter would be much appreciated. Be brutal.

Thanks.

The purpose of this letter is to express my interest in the "position". jane doe informed me of career opportunities with xyz firm last fall on campus at small College. To learn more about the company I reached out to jane doe and rob doe, whom both talked with me about their very enjoyable work experiences at xyz company. I am confident that with my analytical background, work ethic and strong written and oral communication skills I will be a direct contributor to the success of swaggy company.

I am confident in my analytical skills; however, I strive to place myself in positions where I can be constantly developing further. My background as a Client Administration Intern at a fund of hedge funds and founder of the xyz Investment Club, exhibit my efforts to develop my analytical skills in a real world setting. In addition, my experience working at a fund of hedge funds taught me how to professionally interact with upper level management as well as clients - a skill that is essential to being a successful consultant. Furthermore my experience as a student at a Liberal Arts college has required me to refine my oral and written communication skills.

As a collegiate Rugby player, I have learned how to balance several endeavors at once and that success is attained through initiative and attention to detail. In addition to college athletics, I have immersed myself in campus clubs and organizations. This busy lifestyle has led me develop a work ethic that demands success in all aspects of my life and I pride myself on this work ethic and reliability.

It would be a privilege to further discuss this position with you and I would welcome the opportunity to interview with xyz company. Attached you will find a resume which provides additional information regarding my qualifications. Thank you in advance for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
