God I hope not, downtown is a shithole. Midtown is slowly getting there though, only problem is rents are still through the roof, not like the downtown luxury buildings.
it's specualitive at best. the WSJ article mentioned that this is common practice, ML spreads interest around and their current real estate mgmt group cuts their price and keeps them in place.
they may 1) move to a place around Mad. Sq. Garden 2) Move to new towers around WTC site 3) stay put
for the record, I believe ML should move its entire operations to Pittsburgh, PA
