Put Analyst Ranking on Resume
Hey, was fortunate enough to be ranked the #1 2nd year analyst globally at my firm and wanted to check what your thoughts are on including this on my resume. (I know we are not supposed to know but this always gets out...)
Was think of including the below on my CV: "For the year 2015-16, globally ranked as #1 analyst at Firm" Is this to direct? Or should I replace #1 with best?

Did you get a plaque or something? What does it say on your award?
No I was told by my MD and multiple other seniors.
If your MD or someone else who would know says so, than I'd put it on my resume.
If there is some way for it to be verified then definitely.
They could call my MD if they don't believe me, but confident that this won't be an issue. I am more thinking about (i) best practice; and (ii) wording without sounding cocky....
So.... how do you know it's true? Is there any objective metric that verifies this claim?
Someone telling you that you're the best doesn't necessarily make it so. Putting that on your resume, without any objective evidence, seems like a bad idea. If you get an actual award, then you should mention it on your resume.
Imagine if you were reviewing a resume that said "my teacher told me that I'm the greatest student to ever attend X university!" How would you react? If, on the other hand, you reviewed a resume from a valedictorian with 4.0 cumulative GPA, that would be more meaningful, right?.
I'd put it with other awards/honors. I'm sure ER guys put their rankings if they get placed highly on the II survey, so I don't see a problem with you putting it
Would agree with thebrofessor. But, at the same time it's just not as tangible as having evidence of it (if it were listed on a website or some award, etc.). In three years, your MD might say "Wait, what did I tell the kid?" Not trying to be an ass, just telling it how I view it.
It would be a great accolade for the resume, though. Along the same lines as "closed x deals, representing $y." Maybe something along the lines of "Voted best second-year analyst by executive management."
Thanks. All big IBs rank their analysts to determine the bonus bucket, but it's never made public so don't see an issue with not having hard evidence. In 2 yrs time this really won't be to relevant anymore and likely won't be on my CV by that time.

Absolutely put it on your resume. This is a no brainier...
Here is what a colleague of mine put on their resume post their consulting associate program. "Awarded highest possible performance rating (top 1%) for every semi-annual review, designated as top of class"
So you could probably put something along this line...

Id put a bullet point on it but I wouldn't make it the center piece of my resume. If you were number 1 than you should have plenty of other things to fill your resume with IMO.

I'd put it - initially, It'll open doors and signal that your references will be stellar.
