Hey,

I am currently a Junior Undergrad looking for a summer Investment Banking analyst position. This is my current resume, if you have time feel free to post comments and critiques.

The Kid"How I met your mother"?

The TV Show. On second thought, it almost sounds like it would be weird if the reading analyst did not know what it was. I am taking that out.

Are the bullet points concise? Is there maybe too much text?

And, DCF/LBO valuation was the core focus of two of my finance courses this semester. I am very familiar with the steps of each and how to find specific values in each calculation

Thanks

I knew what you're talking about. So since you put it on your resume I assume thats your favorite show???

Not endorsing putting a TV show a resume, but personally I would give someone an interview if they had The Wire on their resume... definitely not some corny sitcom.

G.M.TrevelyanIt's quite good

LOL I hope you were being sarcastic. The kid spelled "intramural" incorrectly lol auto ding

awawgoiankeep tenses consistent, or at least put the present tense bullets before the past tense one

that one stray white bullet is lonely -- put it back with its black brothers

The problem is the bike sharing project is current and ongoing. For the bullet that starts with "Use communication and advising skills...", changing the word "Use" to "Used" would imply that the system has been completed.

I have changed the other bullets to matching tenses with the exception of that one, until I figure out how to word it correctly.

also I would try to use fewer words when possible as well as to avoid stating the obvious; will just deconstruct this bullet so you can see what i'm saying and apply the ideas to the rest:

"Use communication and advising skills to supervise two selected senior engineering design teams to complete the system to specifications within a set budget"

  • used communication and advising skills -- seems a bit unwieldy, and implied in the supervision and advising aspects of it; rephrase to demonstrate your actions, rather than describe your characteristics [use "advised" or "supervised" or "directed" or "managed" or "coordinated" -- something active
  • "selected" -- selected in what way? this is confusing for anyone who lacks context [and nobody will read your resume close enough or judge whether or not to give you an interview on whether the teams were "selected" or not; same for the "senior" aspect, though it makes more sense in context than "selected"]
  • complete the system to specifications within a set budget -- wordy; a budget is "set" almost by definition [consider e.g. "within specifications and budget"]
  • but perhaps most importantly -- what exactly is the project?

    • Currently managing and directing two appointed senior engineering design teams to complete the prototype system within specifications and budget

    • This is what the bullet has been changed to for now. I am still polishing the bullets under the bike sharing system heading so they are more relevant and direct. I changed the word "selected" to "appointed". the PHD professors selected the design teams based on what skill sets I needed to complete the project.

I have also modified the "interests" section to this:

Interests: NCAA Football; deep sea fishing on the Gulf of Mexico; exotic cultures around the Mediterranean; sailing
