Resume format for Polish jobs?

Currently playing with the idea of moving from London to Warsaw. I have always used the WSO format for my resume, but I know that the EU does it differently, so would Polish recruiters prefer some other format than the WSO one? Essentially, what is the best format for jobs in Poland?

Many thanks!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, while the WSO resume format is highly regarded in finance and investment banking globally, including Europe, there are some regional nuances to consider when applying for jobs in Poland or other EU countries:

  1. CV vs. Resume: In Poland, the term "CV" is more commonly used than "resume." A CV in Europe tends to be slightly more detailed than the concise, one-page resumes often used in the U.S. or UK.

  2. Photo Inclusion: Unlike in the U.S. or UK, where including a photo is discouraged, Polish recruiters often expect a professional photo on your CV. Ensure the photo is formal and high-quality.

  3. Personal Information: Polish CVs typically include more personal details, such as:

    • Full name
    • Date of birth
    • Nationality
    • Contact information (address, phone number, email)
  4. Language Skills: Highlighting language proficiency is crucial, especially if you're moving from London to Warsaw. Clearly state your level of Polish and any other languages you speak, using the CEFR scale (e.g., B2, C1).

  5. Length: While the WSO format emphasizes brevity, Polish CVs can extend to two pages if necessary, especially for experienced professionals.

  6. Formatting: The WSO format's clean and professional design can still work well, but you may need to adapt it slightly to include the additional details mentioned above. Ensure the layout is clear and easy to read.

  7. Local Preferences: Tailor your CV to the specific industry and role you're applying for. Research the company culture and expectations in Poland to ensure your CV aligns with their preferences.

If you're considering a move to Warsaw, adapting your CV to these regional expectations will help you stand out to Polish recruiters while maintaining the professional edge of the WSO format.
