Resume Help - Is Project Finance considered Investment Banking?
Hey guys, I'm thinking about recruiting for Infra PE and was wondering how I should label my experience on my resume. I'm currently working in project finance at a top bank in the space. So far, my experience has mostly been advisory/structuring, but the bank does do a fair amount of lending as well, since it is PF. We don't do any M&A aside from supporting the bid and/or structuring the debt financing. Work includes financial modeling, diligence, answering investor/lender Q&A, underwriting, ad hoc "quarterbacking", etc.
With that in mind, what job title do you think I would have the best odds of securing a PE role with (feel free to add suggestions as well):
1) Investment Banking Associate - Project Finance
2) Project Finance Associate
3) Associate - Project Finance
I mean, it really depends on your bank and I don’t think it matters how you label it. If you did more advisory type work then yes it’s investment banking experience, and I have seen plenty of people go from project finance to infrastructure PE.
From which project finance teams have you seen people go infrastructure PE?
Top 3 in the space. Not high hit rate like M&A IB, but still happens. Also, depends on what you call infra PE. If you consider a firm that does Power and Infra, then yes. If pure infra, then no.
Ratione maxime nam et cumque. Ab ipsam autem atque non. Repellat unde perspiciatis sed nostrum atque aspernatur.
