Resume Review for S&T

I'm a senior trying to get my foot in the door on a trading floor. Take a look at my resume and tell me what you think. Any feedback is helpful.

I would round all the GPAs to the tenths place, think about it as follows, I present to you:

NR's Theorem of Optimal GPA Rounding: -A monkey should decide the decimal format of his/her GPAs on a resume such that the sum of all GPAs listed makes the following formula greater than or equal to zero: (format used) - (alternative format)

Pretty complicated, huh?

Let me demonstrate. Here's you expressing to the hundredths:

(3.41 - 3.4) + (3.35 - 3.4) + (3.56 - 3.6) = .01 - .05 - .04 = -.08

versus rounding to the tenths:

(3.4 - 3.41) + (3.4 - 3.35) + (3.6 - 3.56) = -.01 + .05 + .04 = .08

Et Voila! Optimization at its finest mofucka.

(Note: Yes, I know that the scores will always be the positive/negative equivalents of one another. Be aware that the score represents the marginal GPA gained or lost by by switching systems.)

leveRAGE.You obviously go to providence(you missed blacking something out).

it will take solid networking to break in

You will definitely have to do a bit more networking on your own than you would if you were coming from a target school. I talked to a buddy who is an '06 PC grad a few weeks ago. It seems Providence College has a relatively strong showing on the Street, which is surprising given its small size and liberal arts concentration. He knows a few alums who are VP/MD's at UBS, Barclays, MS, Jefferies, and even a couple guys at GS, etc.

Use LinkedIn and/or your Career Services office to find some of these higher-up alums and contact them. People coming from small schools are usually happy to help fellow grads.

Under skills and interests - take out excel/word/power point. Experience with Microsoft is understood to be a must.

I generally don't list the outside stuff (unless its sports etc. and you have something which displays your interest - i.e. participating on a team, winning a competition ...)

Nice format for the rest - put that trading competition towards the top of its section though.

thanks for the tips and yes I go to PC. I've been doing a lot of networking on my own in terms of contacting alumni and also cold emailing MDs and VPs. Unfortunately, BBs did not recruit from PC last summer and are now starting to since we have a new Department Head of the FInance department. I know Barclays and Jefferies were hiring SAs this year from our school.
