Transfer Student Resume

If I’m a transfer student would I be able to list only my new school in my education section and a blended cumulative gpa rather than both schools and the seperate gpa for each?Would be same major and credits transferred over from a private 4 year institution, not a CC.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, it is generally acceptable to list only your new school in the education section of your resume, especially if the credits transferred seamlessly and you are pursuing the same major. However, there are a few key considerations:

  1. Blended Cumulative GPA: If your new school calculates a cumulative GPA that includes the grades from your previous institution, you can list this blended GPA. Ensure it is accurate and aligns with the official transcript from your current school.

  2. Transparency: If there is a significant difference in performance between the two schools or if your previous school is notable (e.g., a semi-target or target institution), it might be worth mentioning it briefly. For example, you could include a line like:
"Transferred from [Previous School Name] after completing x credits in [Year]."

  3. Avoid Misrepresentation: Do not attempt to hide or misrepresent your academic history. If asked during interviews, be prepared to explain your transfer and provide details about your previous GPA if necessary.

  4. Highlight Strengths: If your GPA improved significantly after transferring, you might want to emphasize the upward trend. This can demonstrate resilience and growth.

Ultimately, the decision depends on how your academic history aligns with your career goals and how you want to present your narrative.
