Where to go from here?

Hi,

I'm in the last semester of finishing a second degree in Applied Mathematics, intending to go into quant finance. I was going to apply to an MFE program this winter but I don't know if I can swing it financially, so I'm leaning to getting some work experience first.

My first degree was in Government and I have 3 years experience in the legal field. I've been working towards a quant MS, but I've become open to alternatives to the traditional quant role (portfolio analytics, Asset Management etc.). I'm also eyeing the CFA L1 this summer.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to a promising first job that could open doors down the road? Any other advice is appreciated as well.
