1 year MBA overtaking 2 year

I just saw this article on poets and quants:

Looks like shorter programs are becoming more popular. Any thoughts on this? Saving some time could be attractive but you'd almost certainly not get an internship.

Here in Canada the top two MBA's take different approaches. Ivey is 12 months of class and Rotman is 16 months of class and 4 Months of internship. They both seem to be roughly the same in terms of student outcomes. How is it in the states?

No, a lot of the MBA value is networking and you benefit from the 2 years to meet people across your class. Also the internship is beneficial to either try something different (e.g., coming from an investing role with plans to continue post-MBA, but getting the opportunity to work in an operating role over the summer) or confirm that you want to do a certain path post-MBA (e.g., banking or consulting)
