Hey @bondtradercu

So disclaimer firstly: I work for mbaMission! (Thank you for considering us.) There's a lot to think about when choosing an admissions consultant....here are some things I'd suggest asking any firm:

  1. What kind of writing/editing experience do your consultants have when you hire them?
  2. What is your firm’s hiring process like?
  3. What kind of initial training do your consultants go through? How long after a consultant is hired do they get their first client?
  4. What ongoing training does your firm offer its consultants?
  5. If your consultants don’t know the answer to a client’s question, where do they go to find it?
  6. Are your consultants full time or part-time?
  7. What outside organizations endorse your company?
  8. What additional services are included beyond application consulting?
  9. Do you find “success rate” to be a meaningful metric?

Admissions consulting can look like a commodity product, but I think these questions will help you assess each company at a deeper level.

At mbaMission, we are all experienced writers and editors, and we're all MBAs as well. We work for the company full-time, which means we don't have to worry about working 9 to 5 (or later!) somewhere else and then coming home and reviewing essays.

Applying to business school can be a stressful process. Firstly, you have to work full-time and get all these applications in. Then, the waiting and the interviewing and the school decisions can be pretty mentally taxing. It's helpful to have a partner through this journey that you trust and enjoy working with. My recommendation is that you set up free consultations with a few firms and see where you feel the "click."

I hope that helps! We would love to know what you decide so please keep us posted and let us know how we can help.

Krista
