Am I enough for Bocconi Main?

Hi Everybody, I hope some of you might help me by giving some hints on my question:

Background:

- 21 year student at a non target uni in Italy with GPA of 27/30 (I think this as a weakness for my Bocconi application)

- GMAT (Focus/New version): 655 --> 91st percentile overall, 90th for Bocconi Masters

- Previous internship in a local bank, hope to gain another internship by the start of the Master

- Extracurriculars: Part of the Junior Enterprise of my Uni with a role of Manager in the Sales Team, selected among the first 50 Italian EY Campus Ambassadors. Other activities centered on events for students.

How likely am I to be accepted to Bocconi MFin? Also is my profile competitive for St. Gallen/SSE/what else?

Thank you in advance

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's an evaluation of your profile for Bocconi's MSc in Finance and other potential programs:

Bocconi MSc in Finance

Strengths: - GMAT Score: Your GMAT score of 655, which is in the 91st percentile overall and 90th percentile for Bocconi Masters, is a strong point. - Extracurricular Activities: Active involvement in the Junior Enterprise of your university and being selected as an EY Campus Ambassador are impressive. - Internship Experience: Previous internship at a local bank and the potential for another internship add value to your application.

Weaknesses: - GPA: A GPA of 27/30 might be considered a bit lower compared to other applicants, especially since you mentioned it as a potential weakness.

Competitiveness for Other Programs

St. Gallen (HSG): - Strengths: Your GMAT score and extracurricular activities are strong points. - Considerations: HSG is highly competitive, and your GPA might be a concern. However, your overall profile is still strong.

Stockholm School of Economics (SSE): - Strengths: Similar to Bocconi, your GMAT score and extracurriculars are strong. - Considerations: SSE values international experience and strong academic records, so your GPA might be a slight concern, but your other strengths could compensate.

Recommendations:

  • Highlight Strengths: Emphasize your GMAT score, leadership roles, and internship experiences in your application.
  • Address Weaknesses: If possible, provide context for your GPA and highlight any upward trends or challenging coursework.
  • Consider Additional Schools: Based on profiles from WSO, you might also consider applying to other reputable programs like HEC Paris, LSE, and Imperial College, which have strong finance programs and might value your overall profile.

Conclusion:

Your profile has several strong points that make you a competitive candidate for Bocconi's MSc in Finance and other top programs like St. Gallen and SSE. While your GPA might be a slight concern, your GMAT score, extracurricular activities, and internship experiences are significant strengths.

You would have been borderline for the MFin taught in Italian, but they are removing that one. As you said the low GPA hurts your chances a lot. You might be good for the master in AFC though, which has basically the same placement

you're right but finanza will just merge with finance so OP might be very lucky lol. just like getting into IM was extra easy this last year as it merged with the MiM
