An accountancy major for consulting or trading?

Hi guys. I have just embarked on my journey towards attaining a degree in college. There are a couple of questions in my mind that need your help!

  1. What are the chances of an accountancy major landing a job in consultancy or trading? Are they as preferred as other grads, like the econs and finance majors?

  2. And how relevant is accounting for trading and consultancy positions. Will I be applying what I have learnt in school or am I going to prepare myself to pick up a new set of skills over there?
