Any HYPSW transfer students here?

I'm really curious about the transfer process to HYPSW from a target like Columbia/Penn/UChicago. I'm wondering if anyone on this forum has had success in this process. What reasons did you give for your transfer? Who did you ask for recommendations? What advice would you give for someone who wants to make the transfer?

Yes, I know it is nearly impossible to make this kind of transfer, meaning that there are very few of you out there. Nonetheless, I'm hoping someone knowledgable on this topic can comment.

Alright then there's no reason to transfer. Any opportunity open to a HYPSM will be open to Columbia/UChicago/Penn. I'm at a similar school as you but I have friends at HYP and there's really no difference besides a few buyside roles specifically for H/W.

I go to one of the schools you listed and can try to help, but I haven't met a single person who's a transfer. I'm assuming the process will be similar to normal admissions, so research the schools, write about specific offerings instead of being broad, don't shit on your current school obviously. Ask professors who know your name and face for the recommendations. I'm sure you already know how to play the game if you're at a target already.

I'm assuming you go to Columbia (you could just try to internally transfer to W if you were at Penn, so you're probably not at Penn). If you go to Columbia, don't transfer. It offers the exact same placements and is essentially the same level of prestige as the schools you're trying to transfer to. From personal experience, alumni of other Ivies have still been receptive, so I really don't see the point of uprooting your life if you're at Columbia right now.

I’m uofc c/o 2025, did I make a mistake EDing there? Should I have applied to an ivy lol
