Are MBA admissions predictable?

I'm very interested in attending an MBA business schools
">M7 school in the future, but I was wondering how feasible of a goal that may be.

I attend a top 25 UG with a 3.65 GPA, and will probably end up working in commercial banking at a BB once I graduate. If I manage to get a high gmat score, perform reasonably well at my job, and write good essays, is my admission to a lower MBA business schools
">M7 school reasonably secure? Or is it quite unpredictable if I am not a standout of any sort?

unfortunately you are not guaranteed M7 admission with that profile. standing out is critical especially if you are a non-URM.

if you are set on this commercial banking job then do it for 2 years and focus on doing "something different" in the 2 subsequent years.

No. There are WAAAY too many variables in this process. All you have right now is the average GPA(for the M7) at a solid school, a check mark in one box. There are many people just like you applying every year. Acceptance rates at the M7 are around 20% or lower, and most weak applicants self select themselves out of applying. You are applying with a bunch of yous, some slightly less impressive, and some MUCH more impressive.

"Reasonably well at my Job" may not be good enough, and shouldnt be your goal, do exceptionally well, show these programs just how driven you are.

No, not every 3.65 (top 25) 720(est) Commercial Banker will get into an M7
