Best out of these 4(Undergrad)
Out of these 4 which is the best for a career in PE, IB or S&T. I'm applying for undergrad.
- University of Nottingham- Finance Accounting and Management
- Durham University- Accounting and Finance
- Maastricht University- Economics and Business Economics
- RSM- International Business economics

Durham is/has become sort of a mini-Oxbridge. Academically, its not close to those two but the university style is the same: colleges etc. My cousin goes to Durham and she's having a great time it seems. I wouldn't say that they're extremely prominent when it comes to city placement. Since none of the universities you listed are close to any of the European financial centres I would go with Durham. In Durham you have an active investment society and the chance of getting to know people with connections and ambitions (many boarding/public school kids with connections etc. you get the theme).... Its fairly easy to get to London from Durham so networking trips should be easy to organise.
Durham BA Econ. entry requirements : A* AA or 38 (IB)
nottingham probablybut difficult to say. durham nottingham are strange places to choose if you want to go to the city as entry requirements are similarly competitive as universities that place 20000 times better into the city.
if you aim for nottingham you could also aim for the usual suspects
Don't know much about the others but I'm attending Nottingham. Note that I chose Nottingham for other reasons than a career path in IB. I do Finance Accounting and Management so if you have any specific questions about the content of the course itself feel free to ask away either here or via PM.
Nottingham is not really a target university but rather a semi-target. Most of the BBs comes around once or twice a year for info session. Bar Cap and DB a bit more often and they also have some workshops. Biggest UG business school presence is held by the Big4 whereas the BBs targets the whole of the university.
UoN has received praise for their employability programme but it's very much up to you as a person to make the most out of it. From what I've seen through alumni network there are a few people that made it into the industry but not an overwhelming number.
Just as in Durham it has an active Investment Society and a top-3 UK SIFE team. I never really researched Durham so can't compare the two, check the rankings or ask someone else.
Thanks for all that. With Durham, the course is on a different campus and It's a new course so I'm not too sure. But then again durham is one of the best universities in the UK. I think both these unis are better for economics rather than A+F. I could be wrong about this. I'm an international student so I'm not sure if the employment prospects for an international student are different to those of a UK student. Also, I don't really mind where I work- London or Frankfurt.

Ya well a+f requirement for Nottingham is aab whereas a+f at lse is AAA. But I didn't have the predicted grades to apply to lse. And what do you mean by usual suspects?

Southampton has a great BSc Accounting and Finance course. Most of the BBs come here inc. JP and GS as well as tech heavy weights such as Google, Apple, Microsoft. There are lots of international students there. Mostly from Hong Kong etc. Requirements: AAB
Well I've already applied to UK unis. And Durham and Nottingham are the only good ones I've applied to.
ive never seen anyone from southampton in FO, there are some in MO.
Most of them end up in ER or Econ. Not very many in FO. Some in PM and some in Partner roles in M&A advisory (Boutiques). But of course you can't compare Southampton to LSE etc. After all Southampton is predominantly an engineering university.
So, Would Nottingham or Maastricht be a better choice? I've heard that German banks recruit at Maastricht.

I've got a few friends there and to me it seems like it has become sort of the plan b university for Germans who didn't get into a good university in Germany. My friends that are studying there are neither smart nor ambitious. From what I've heard the student life isn't that great either. I'd pick Nottingham over Maastricht. - Russel Group University (in other words: a respected university) - Closer to London (Networking) - Better student life
From what i've heard Maastricht is easier to get into but very hard to stay in. Student life is good because it has a large student population(about 10% of the city). This could be wrong. Also, I dont know how much of relevance this has but Maastricht has 60 ECTS per year which corresponds to about 1700hours of study. Nottingham has 120 credits per year and that corresponds to 1200hours. Also, would the triple crown accreditation help me in any way to find a job? I'm just trying to find out which one is the best(for me).
