Best plan for an international student with a 1-year OPT?

Hi I’m an international student in the US going into IB and I am looking for the best plan after graduation. I only have a 1-yr OPT so the chances of me winning the H1B lottery is basically 0. I am thinking about getting an MBA or a MS in Finance/Financial Engineering so that I can get more chances for H1B. MBA would definitely gives me more valuable connections and fit my path somewhat better. But MS in Finance/Financial Engr can give me 3-yr OPT (aka more chances for H1B) A little bit about me: - junior at an Ivy - GPA 3.8 - interested in pivoting to PE, VC or HF (if possible) Please let me know your advice! Would greatly appreciate any thoughts on this!

Hi Intern in IB - Cov, hope I can help. Do any of these links cover what you're looking for:

  • Study Abroad at LSE? (Semi-Target Student)
  • Bocconi vs USI for working abroad - Italian student
  • IB internship in London as a US Exchange/ Study Abroad Student?
  • Who are the 'top students' from undergraduate?
  • Top Local Saudi universities vs T30 unis abroad
  • Study abroad?
  • Study Abroad - Fall or Spring

More suggestions...

Fingers crossed that one of those helps you.

Am in a similar boat. Top MBA programs typically don't accept those without prior work experience, so your bet is to do an MSF or any master's program that is STEM-designated in order to get the STEM OPT extension.
