Bowdoin?

I was recently accepted to Bowdoin. I still have a few more schools left to hear from in the next few weeks, but I really like Bowdoin. This is alongside the amazing financial aid package they've offered me, making college basically free. I was just wondering what the prospects for entering IB from Bowdoin are.

LACs are the most underrated colleges on this website and generally! This website I feel is over-indexed with UVA/Wharton/NYU/Michigan grads

Yes and no. I agree that many LACs like Bowdoin are way under-rated but that's not going away any time soon. It's like getting an Ivy League education without the Ivy League brand name.

Theoretically, that sounds like a great deal right as far as the quality of the education? However, unfortunately, we live in a very shallow world where only brand name matters.

you can go for MBA in that case a few years later. But in the US, I don't think you are right at all. Globally, I can't comment on how LACs stack up. But once you're at a certain point in your career, nobody will give a F where you went to school. It'll be your professional achievements. if ppl did care, they're prob v shallow and you don't want to work with them. Good way to filter out these people is when they start talking about the grad / undergrad schools their firms hire from (Why should I hire you over this XX kid) or are looking for an opportunity to tell you where they went to school (and so they can tell u all about how amazing it was)

Congrats, and I would say definitely depending on where in IB you want to go. Too vague to answer honestly, but you could definitely land IB roles in BB firms from there. Coming from someone is working BB IB from a Uni you have never heard of (and not cause its that exclusive lol).

Schools don't get you in, they only open the door. A good way to get a better answer is talk with the schools career center. See how deep their IB network is and what kind of campus recruitment they have. Network, Network Network.

Congrats and good luck

Bowdoin is great. My mom went and I am continually stunned at how passionate / connected the alumni body is (they're 40 years out of school and still get together all the time, most are actively involved in fundraising, and they go out of their way to help current students looking for jobs)

GO and don't look back my brother
