Brooklyn College CUNY or UMass Lowell

Hello WSO,

I have just completed my sophomore year at UMass Lowell. I had attended Barry University in Miami, FL and received a 2.9 GPA for my first year. After one year in UMass Lowell, I have a GPA of 3.8 (42 credits), and I was wondering if I should stay here or transfer to Brooklyn College CUNY (just got accepted). I am majoring in Finance and MIS and would like to work in the FinTech industry. I thought if I were closer to WallStreet I would be able to network and find an intern or a job later on that would be better than if I were at UMass. Can someone please give me their opinion on Brooklyn College's reputation and quality of education in the Finance department compared to UMass Lowell?

Much appreciated!

Brooklyn College doesn't have an established finance program. (They're trying to improve but it's a work in progress) You'll have more luck studying accounting in BC. The only decent option you'd have is to transfer to Baruch after awhile & that's still a headache sometimes. Also — make sure to check if all of your credits transfer over to CUNY from your current school, it might not be worth it.
