Can a Pharm. Rep get into a target?
Do target schools see a lot of applications with a few years of pharmaceutical rep. experience? There wasn't much else in the market for someone with a life sciences degree, so this was the path I went down.
I'm mostly looking to attain an MBA to move into IB and get away from the healthcare side of things completely. However, I'm not sure if being a pharm. rep was relevant work experience that the top tier schools are looking for.
I'd be applying at 23 with a 750 GMAT, 3.9 undergrad, and 2.5 years experience in pharm. rep from a smaller company.
Would I have any shot?
My knowledge in this realm is limited, but if you spin it the right way, your stats say you're totally fine.
That's what I was hoping for. I'm at least on or a bit above the average for a few of the schools I was looking at, but the experience aspect just frightens me.
Most of the work experience I see people with before attempting to land a spot in an MBA program is at lower level IBanking positions, analysts, PE research, or similar things. I may try asking a few admissions representatives if Pharm. Rep is representative of the work they are looking for.
