Chances at US MBA?
Long story short, went to a prestigious undergrad, but have a low gpa (2.9). I had severe health issues that hindered my ability to do well and school and ended up having to go on a leave of absence to deal with it. When I came back to school I finished with close to a 4.0 in my last two years. I scored 4.0s in all quant related classes. I was able to get into IB despite these issues and ended up breaking into a regional boutique and then a recognized MM. My work experience is 4 years, and I currently am PortCo operator for a tech investment company covering day-to-day business activity and M&A investments. I am currently studying for my gre and am aiming for a 325+. With my current scores I believe I can get there. Goal for the MBA: Personal goals I want to relocate to the US and grow my career in the US market. Professional goals, I want to continue my career in finance and work in IB via the mba associate platform. Are my goals attainable for a Top 10-20 US MBA? I am not an ORM if that helps.
I networked with a MS/JPM MD who said he had a 2.9 GPA and entered banking from a top 20 MBA.
As long as you get a good GRE score (aim 330+), and can write captivating essays to portray your phoenix-like rise from the ashes, sky’s the limit.
Appreciate the response. Would my work experience and undergrad schooling play a role? I went to a target, and have good work experience.
