Chances for LSE, UofT? (UK and Canada)

Hi everyone, thanks for checking out my thread. I just finished my first two years at University, and I have been considering going to grad school and breaking into finance from the very beginning. I just wanted to "check in" and get some tips on how I can improve my application for when I do apply.

Here are my current stats:

  • 80% average in BSc Computer Science and Mathematics (double major), honours (I am looking to improve this), Non-target Canadian.
  • EC's include:
  • Board Member/Volunteer web developer for non profit in my city (3 years)
  • Vice president of charity campus club (will be for 3 years)
  • Ton's of programming projects related to variety of fields (Astronomy, finance etc, I know this probably doesn't mean d**k but I could spin this in my application if I have to..)

The program I am looking to apply to is the MSc Finance and Economics or MSc Finance and Private Equity. My goal is to break into IB or trading. The quant route is also an option I'm considering.

The LSE Canadian page states the minimum requirements are a B+ average (77%), which they translate to a 3.3 GPA. So an 80% is an A- average, and translates roughly to a 3.5 (?). Although this is only for my first two years, I'm confident in my work ethic and abilities to keep it at least at the same level (plus after taking to a lot of 3rd,4th years, the marks in the math/comp-sci department in our school are actually the most inflated in the entire school, which only helps my cause).

I'm also looking towards these programs, if anyone has comments about them please feel free to post: -UofT MFE (This is primarily towards Econ students.. and I haven't taken any Econ courses yet which is why I'm not leaning towards it, but it is highly reputable and I can break into IB with it) -UofT MMF (quant route.. but I'm not exactly interested in risk management, back of my head though).

Do I even have a chance at being a competitive applicant for LSE?

Thanks a lot for reading, sorry for the extremely lengthy post.
