Chances of lateraling to different industry focus post-MBA?

So I have a few pre-MBA PE opportunities lining up, but two of them are in niche industries (think infrastructure, sustainability, etc.) and I was wondering if anyone has had experience ridding themselves of the niche label and moving into a different industry post-MBA.

I generally like the nature of the these industries but the longer holding periods and lower target returns give me a bit of pause when considering as a long-term career option.

Any and all commentary would be helpful.
