College Selection
My son got into Bucknell / Fordham / Penn State business programs. He wants to pursue a career on WS in Investment Banking or Alternative Investments. He also mentions transferring to a different school in the second year. I appreciate any insights asto which would be better. I not very familiar with this process.
oh no.
Your son isn't capable of posting this himself? He'll definitely get a wall street job.
I got into Penn State too and I was asking the same thing so I emailed someone from the business school about OCR. They send about 20 or so a year (true story) to some BBs and mid-level firms. She showed me an entire brochure too with names, salaries, bonuses, etc.
From what I saw, your son can get a big 4 gig easy as long as he maintains about a 3.5 (that's the Smeal average). If he wants an internship or job offer for investment banking, he's going to have to work his tail off and get a high GPA and whatnot seeing as how only 20 or so make it a year. He also practically needs to be in both Schreyer Honors College and the Nittany Lion Fund as that's where most recruits come from (as shown in the packet she sent me).
I can't speak for Bucknell but Fordham is pretty crappy in terms of Banking. However, one interesting stat that I heard is that about 90% of students land internships with many of them being finance related. It sounds nice but as I began to ask around, they're mostly corporate finance roles and PWM; not too many people go into banking.
Goblan is kind of right...if he wants to get into this field then he has to be a "go-getter." He can't have daddy holding his hand forever. No offense.
