Cornell (ILR) vs Pomona (Econ)
I am a current cc student who was just admitted as a transfer to Cornell and Pomona. I am interested in IB. I will be going to Pomona as a second semester sophomore and majoring in Econ which should help set me up for recruiting. For Cornell I was admitted as a junior for ILR which is not economics and I am not sure how easy it is to add an extra semester at Cornell. Realistically which school gives me better odds for IB.
Would appreciate some advice.
Cornell
I am assuming that is only if I can add an extra semester right.
Are you currently a second semester sophomore or transferring in with second semester sophomore standing?
I will be transferring in with second semester sophomore standing at Pomona for sure. I will be going into Cornell as a Junior but I hope to add an extra semester but I am not sure how easy it is to do at Cornell.
Correct me if I’m wrong but for Pomona you’d graduate Fall 2027 and for Cornell you’d graduate Spring 2027? Fall 2027 is grouped with Spring 2028 for recruiting purposes so you’d only be able to recruit for IB from Pomona. Clubs are significantly more cutthroat and hard to join at Cornell as they usually look for freshmen/sophomores.
Yes that is correct. That is why I would add an extra semester at Cornell. Thanks for your input. It seems like as of right now Pomona would be the only viable option.

Recent ILR graduate. Undergrad school at Cornell doesn't matter at all for recruiting. It's not like Penn with Wharton or Michigan with Ross. ILR is pretty easy so it's actually a great program to recruit from.
The bigger concern is that you would be a junior, so you'd either need to scramble for an off-cycle SA offer or lock in for full time. Because of that I'd recommend Pomona by default just because you could actually recruit.
Ok thank you. During your time at ILR did you know any transfers or students in general that added an extra semester.
