Deferred MBA?

Current senior in college @ a semi target with a job lined up at a top bank. Considering applying for deferred MBA in my final semester next spring. Does anyone have a sense of whether these programs (at the top schools) are only for people who are taking a risk after school (starting a business, etc)? Or do people with stable paths lined up get into these programs as well. I ask bc my impression is that these programs are designed to allow you to take some sort of risk after college and have an MBA to fall back on
