But does this make me an inconsiderate person as other people’s grades were on the line too?

Been there, done that, plagiarized book reviews off Amazon. Didn't realize there were software that caught it. Very embarrassing then. Professor was nice, but I still got a D grade. Also, didn't give two hoots about that class. Important to learn from it and move on. College life, generally speaking, is a more risk-free environment to make mistakes, and learn from them, unless you fuck up really bad. Don't go around raping or imposing yourself on someone.

Brother, during a business law class in college my freshman year I had my phone in between my legs looking at quizlet. I accidentally pressed a flash card and my phone volume was full blast. Needless to say everyone in a class of around 30 people heard my phone and knew it was me. Got a meeting with the dean and everything. I owned up to it and got let off the hook with around a semester of academic probation because I took it on the chin. The only thing you can do in situations like this is to not get expelled first and foremost, and to own up to it like a responsible adult.
