Do I need to retake GRE?

I got a 170 verbal and a 161 quant. If you look at the GRE-->GMAT conversion tables, that puts me in the 710-730 range for the GMAT. The verbal is great obviously (170/170), but I have a humanities undergrad major as well as a marketing job at a startup, so I'm concerned about conveying strong quantitative abilities. I ran out of time on one section b/c of something stupid and think I could do a little better.

I'd like to avoid taking GMAT because I have been studying for GRE off and on for a year and am way more familiar with it--I initially was considering grad school in an arts & sciences discipline as well.

170V is great -- even 169V is still 99th percentile. 161 is 81st percentile.

Did you take any practices tests? If so, is this above, below, or at those scores?

If I were you, I'd consider retaking and trying to beef up that Q score if you think it's not representative of your true ability. Business schools often don't really pay attention to the V score, especially if you're coming from a humanities/social sciences educational and work background. The GRE is already a warning signal for them since the quant is easier than GMATs quant, and a score of 161 doesn't help.
