Nowadays, I have seen it happen once in my career that a colleague was "sponsored" for an EMBA.
It depends on the company, culture, the need and what function the executive would fulfill after the program. But people who are part of a leadership development program - I could imagine that a company pays for such a select group.
Key employers are putting in education programs, i.e. Starbucks. But also consultancies like Deloitte and tech focused firms are willing to reimburse a part or all of your tuition.
