Depends on the associate. Are they better than the 2nd year in terms of technical knowledge, proficiency, and knowing what needs to be done?

In my experience, the 2nd year is almost always better across the board because they’ve been on the job for >1yr and so much of the work product is based on what vps / mds want.

However, at some point, approx 8-12mo in, the MBA asso is expected to catch up and be better than the 2nd yr.

On the other hand, many 2nd yrs just don’t care anymore since they have their PE offer in hand and let MBA and 1st yrs handle all work.
