Does applying to business schools as a Deloitte non-GSAP candidate hurt your odds?

Academic profile is 760 GMAT, 3.92 GPA in a top 10 for the major liberal arts program. Professional profile is technology consulting at Deloitte for 3+ years at time of application this fall.

I am 50/50 on applying to GSAP this year due to some of my network leaving the firm as well as not being sure I want to return to the firm postgrad.

At a team dinner I spoke to my manager who is finishing his first year post GSAP, and he was pretty adamant that if I didn't get sponsored by the firm it would hurt my acceptance chances across the board.

Anyone have any clue if this is true or if it's the kool-aid talking?
