Does group work ever get better?

Current undergrad in college and I hate getting assigned group work. There's always a tendency for some people to shirk and trying to ask them to do more doesn't usually yield much - if you ask them to do something on a project, you either get the "So sorry I'm busy" or they half-ass it and you or another non-slacker have to do significant edits. My college lets us do performance reviews of our group members, which do affect their grade slightly, but I wish there was a way to get people to actually put in the work on a project. Slackers seem to know that some people will inevitably bail them out since everyone gets the same grade for the main project. I know collaboration is important for the working world but I'm frustrated that I'm always covering for someone in every project I do. Does group work improve in the finance profession or is it always a case of somebody getting screwed over?

If someone is content getting a "B" and you desire an "A" overall for group work, you are likely going to have to do most of the work. Accept your fate and just put in the work.

The problem is some of them are ok getting C's or below. Is this a thing on Wall Street as well or do the recruiting processes filter out these kinds of people?
