Does race matter for international applicants?
On MBA schools’ websites disclosing the race/ethnicity breakdown of their class, it always refers to US race/ethnicity, while non-US students are bucketed as “international”. Does this mean international students don’t count for racial diversity and they don’t consider race when evaluating international applicants against one another?
!
It really varies. Indians for example are over-represented but Pakistani applicants are not. Pakistanis often do very well with applying to top schools vs their counterpart to the East.
Even though the official breakdown is “international” it definitely does make a difference. Always harder for Indians and Chinese
What about different races from the same country? For example, an Indian vs Black candidate applying from an international pool like UK/Canada
