Duke Fuqua MBA vs. Vanderbilt Owen MBA?
Has anyone attended either of these schools or recommend either of these schools for situations:
A.) Someone who has worked in IB, wants to get an MBA -> PE
B.) Someone who has not worked in IB, wants to get an MBA-> IB
C.) Someone who has worked in tech (Google/Amazon) and wants to switch over to finance/IB after MBA
Is one school better than the other for an MBA or does it not really matter for someone trying to get into IB or PE?
Duke Fuqua is much better than Vanderbilt Owen. If you want buyside then Fuqua is the obvious choice
Based on my experience during post-MBA IB recruiting, Duke has much stronger presence and places well across the board (BB/MM/EB). Not sure about buyside but I’d guess they are better at that as well as they have a large network in finance in NY.
Duke Fuqua
The quality of the two programs is vast. Duke outshines Vandy on everything you would want in a b-school, network, student quality, recruiters, brand, ranking, etc...etc...
Fuqua beats out Owen in just about everything by a mile. Neither will get you to MF/UMM PE but if you're going to IB, Fuqua is worth the sticker price.
