Equity Research or Corporate Banking for MBA/Long Term
Hi,
I am trying to figure out which of these offers works best for my long-term career goals (and to potentially better position myself for an M7 MBA). These are for entry-level roles.
I currently work for a large international bank (think SocGen, MUFG, BNP, Mizuno...) in Corporate Banking on the credit/underwriting analyst side (technically in the risk department). I currently have two offers:
-
Corporate Banking (Relationship Management) which sits on the bank IB&CB division: I would deal with CEOs/CFOs/Treasurers on a regular basis. Very lean team and lots of responsibilities.
-
ER at MM Firm (think Canaccord, Stifel, Macquarie, William Blair, Raymond James): Interesting coverage, the Analyst is looking for his first research associate to expand coverage.
I'm currently leaning towards CB as I am more familiar with the role, enjoy the work, and the hours appear to be better (based on what I see in the office).
bump
I am only an intern. But to my understanding pay and wlb would be similar between the two. So I think the question is whether you like public markets, find debt or equity more interesting.
