Finance at Kellogg?

Hey guys, its app time for Round 1 of MBA programs. I've heard Kellogg is a marketing school and I'm looking to career switch into Asset Management. Would it be worth going to Kellogg if I'm interested in finance? Obviously Kellogg would not be my first choice but would you go to Kellogg over a school just outside of the top 10 such as Ross or Johnson for finance? Thanks

Alumnus of another school so no horse in this race:

  • I would go to Kellogg over a lower-ranked school that supposedly is better at finance, especially if $ is not a factor. I might consider one of those other schools if I had a full-ride, but even then, I'd still lean Kellogg.
  • That said, career-switcher moves into finance at Kellogg might be more difficult than it should be, given Kellogg's caliber. I remember a few joint parties we threw with Kellogg folks (people from my same country/region) and some of them expressed great frustration with career switching into finance.
  • That said, if you already have finance experience, Kellogg shouldn't hold you back (you said you want to switch into Asset Management... are you an ops guy trying to switch, or a banker trying to switch?). I was transferred out of NYC to a regional EM finance hub, and one of my best buddies here is a Kellogg alumnus, and his finance job is much, much cooler than mine.
The truth is you're the weak. And I'm the tyranny of evil men. But I'm tryin', Ringo. I'm tryin' real hard to be the shepherd.
