German internship opportunities
Hello everyone, I'd like to ask for some advice about finance and insurance internships in Germany. I'm about to apply for a master's degree in Germany, and during my undergraduate studies, doing internships across different regions was a real headache for me. So when applying for my master's, I hope to go to a city with more finance and insurance internship opportunities. I'd really appreciate any recommendations for cities or universities. Thank you very much!
Frankfurt is your best bet for finance and insurance internship opportunities in Germany. Based on the most helpful WSO content, Frankfurt is considered the financial hub of Germany, hosting major banks, insurance companies, and financial institutions. The city offers a high deal flow, smaller teams, and a professional environment where English fluency is often sufficient, making it ideal for expats and international students.
For universities, consider Frankfurt School of Finance & Management (FSFM). It has a strong reputation in finance, generous scholarships, and excellent placement opportunities within Germany. Additionally, FSFM's location in Frankfurt provides direct access to networking and internship opportunities in the city's financial district.
If you're open to other cities, Munich and Hamburg also have notable finance and insurance sectors, but Frankfurt remains the top choice for maximizing internship prospects.

Have some experience in the matter. Are you open to private universities or would you be only looking at state unis? And the most important question. Do you speak German? If not you will struggle to get internships
Thank you so much for the comment🥺Actually
I don't consider private universities cause I really can't afford them. And I am currently at b1 level and trying my best to reach c1🥰
Ok no worries. Best is to have a plan and get that German as good as possible. There are a lot of internships and working students jobs to be had, but it’s important to know what you want and why. IB has a very set path of required internships and it’s hard to break in without native German. A lot is possible but it requires planning and targeting.
