Getting MBA only way to transition from Trading to Investment Banking?
I come from a non target school and have been getting more interviews for trading jobs rather than IB jobs, but I ultimately want to get into IB ( I was a college athlete and I have heard traders like that). Is it possible to make a Jump to IB If I do trading for a few years? Do I have to get my MBA to make this jump?
Most traders who transition to IB tend to get their MBAs from what I've seen, but it is definitely possible. I would think your best bet without an MBA would be to transition internally within a BB. I imagine the tolerance for this varies hugely from firm to firm.
Don't write off trading either; what is it about IB that you like more than trading?
