GMAT as a Sophomore in college
Are there ANY benefits to taking the GMAT during the summer between sophomore and junior year of undergrad? Such as putting the score on my resume to help with junior recruiting?
I'm planning to apply 2 years after graduation, so my score will still be valid I think.
The time you spend studying for the gmat could be better spent working on your interviewing or GPA. If you were in the position where it was you and another candidate (w/o gmat) where both of you guys were the same, then the GMAT would tip it in your favor. However, if you spent the time studying for the gmat preping for interviews, then you wouldn't have been in the position anyways.
edit: If I was you, I'd take it during my senior year when I don't have to worry about preparing for interviews (assuming you got a ft offer from you sa stint.)
I think I would have plenty of time to prep for interviews and study for GMAT over the summer because I won't be taking any classes. So I think I could prep for interviews / study for GMAT and still have a lot of time to relax and enjoy the summer.
Plus I just took an online practice GMAT without studying or checking my answers and I did pretty well, so I don't think I would have to devote much time to preparing for the GMAT.
So you're saying that even for undergrad internships it is significant enough to be a tiebreaker, considering the score is fairly high?
If your getting high GMAT scores, you probably had high SATs/ACTs. They check the same box. Not worth it IMO
You say you know you want to apply two years after undergrad, but a lot could change between now and then. If you take it now, you're basically wasting your first two of the five years of your GMAT score. Take it senior year and you've got five years to play with, that way if you change your mind, you don't have to take the test again.
