HBS 2+2 Admit Q&A

I've had a number of discussions with people on this site asking me about my experience with HBS's 2+2 program and I've decided to create a post to consolidate that discussion.

First a little bit of background. I applied during last year's third round of admissions during my senior year of college. I had just heard about the program a little over a week from when applications were due thanks to a friend who spotted the program and thought that it looked like something I was cut out for. I had previously planned on applying to engineering PhD programs so I already had taken the GRE and had recc letters lined up. I had decided against the PhD route as I decided that I really did not enjoy research and I wanted to pursue something more business oriented. I sent in my application, several weeks later I had my interview and just short of two weeks after that I was admitted.

As for my profile I think i was a fairly typical "engineering type" admit. I had a high GPA (3.7-3.9), high GRE test scores (98% quant, over 90% for reading and writing), a number of research/engineering positions in academia and industry and assorted other extra-curriculars , including varsity athletics and philanthropy.

I'm currently working at a Software/Tech company that I'm happy at but am planning on shooting for strategic consulting post MBA.
