HELP - Going Into College With No Finance Background

I graduated high school last month and am enjoying summer. However, I want to feel a little more productive and start preparing for college, especially since I'm going to a target school with a competitive club atmosphere. I don't have any background in finance as most of my extracurriculars center around government and public policy (think lobbying and student council). Since I'm completely new to finance, what kinds of things should I be doing to give myself a chance at getting into clubs as soon as I start college?
