High school senior applying to Canadian Univerisities.
I am currently in grade 12 in a Canadian high school. I am applying to Laurier (BBA and BBA + BMATH), Waterloo (AFM), Ivey (AEO), and Queens (Commerce). But I am unsure which one I would want to go to assuming I get in. Laurier and Waterloo are close so I would not have to pay for residence or anything but I want to do Private Equity (for example CPPIB). So I was just wondering if anyone could help me figure out which on I should go to if that is my career goal. Also, the tuition really is a big thing for me I don't want to be in huge debt but I want a good job. Thanks.
Assuming you intend to start in IB before moving to PE... Ivey/Queen's are your best shot. They are expensive, but hey, one or two bonuses from IB should cover the difference. Some kids from Laurier/Waterloo get into IB, but it's much much rarer.
If you want to work in Toronto, the answer is a little less clear. You can get into IB from any of those programs by doing extremely well in those programs. If you want to work in the US then the Ivey and Queen's brand becomes more necessary.
Absolutely agree - Toronto is a different beast than NY - many senior industry leaders don't give a rats ass what school you went to. Be the top of your game regardless of the school to get into CPP.
100% Ivey. Get ready to grind very hard and to hit the ground running (high GPA, networking, finding internships) on day one as competition at Queen's/Ivey McGill is different than at Laurier/Waterloo/other non-targets.
Ivey without a doubt and Queens wouldn't be a bad second. Others aren't really worth for IB (assuming you want this).
